VMA's

My review of the MTV Video Music Awards… for the record I RARELY watch music videos, so it’s probably safe to say that I hadn’t seen any of the music videos that were being considered for awards, but I can comment on the performances, outfits, weird people, etc.

Bieber – weird outfit. You’re so teeny.

Lady Gaga – you’re so weird, but I kinda like it.

Beyonce – IS PREGNANT – OMG!! That’s going to be the most Jay-Zlicious/Sasha fierce baby ever. And what an awesome way to announce it. I’m going to start working on my musical number to announce to family and friends when we get preggos.

Britney – your words sounded very scripted and politically correct. Someone coached you well.

Katy Perry – why is there a cheese block on your head?

Adele – omg, you’re amazing. Sing me to sleep.

Tyler the creator – never heard of you, you look like you’re 17

Who was the girl with the weird outfit and the broken foot who sang during the commercials? She was singing songs by people in the room… not cool. Also, she had a broken foot and sat down the entire time. Come on VMA’s, have a back up…

This is the only award show where you see everyone openly drinking in their seats… (of course not bieber or selena, but every rapper and lady gaga were pretty hammered) that’s what got Kanye in trouble last year – you remember the whole Taylor Swift incident.

Can you tell what I wasted my time on last night?

Lake

We’re so blessed with a great group of friends. People who are so easy to get along with, fun to be around and you can feel comfortable with. Picture this… 12 adults, 2 babies, 2 dogs in a house with only 1 bedroom and 2 bathrooms = AWESOMENESS. Not one person complained. It was a great weekend vacation.

The babies were so great, the dogs didn’t cause too much trouble and the men even behaved somewhat! Epic. There was… Early mornings sitting on the porch before it got too hot. Making birth kits for pregnant women in Papua New Guinea. Late night volleyball match. Floating in the lake and talking about baby names. Eating a ton of food. It couldn’t have been much better!

Thanks for all of our friends who provided meals and/or paid to travel! It was so great to see everyone and we’re already looking forward to the winter trip to Denver! Thanks again to mama and papa Quiz for letting us crash in their lake pad and buying us some of the food and drink for the weekend!

Pictures to come soon!

Spotlight

While we were out this evening, taking Ranger out for an evening adventure in the backyard, he spotted something. Now many of you know of his crazy obsession with lights and shadows, but this tops them all. All of the sudden he locked eyes on the sky and started hopping on his back legs. I figured a plane, maybe?

We had to squint our eyes off in the distance to see what he was following...a spotlight in the sky, moving back and forth. It was like God's flashlight!
Check out this creepy picture I captured of him. It's just a result of an iPhone picture with the flash on, but it shows you the kind of gaze he had while staring into the sky...

Happy Saturday!

Our Weekend

How was yall's weekend? Our was pretty good!
Ranger is such a cutie. This is what he's doing most days.

Friday at work kicked off with an awesome breakfast, donations went to the American Heart Association. Great way to start the day!

Ranger sleeping some more...

On Friday night we sat in the front yard for a while enjoying the outside and finally met some of our neighbors!
We were so thrilled to wake up on Saturday to RAIN!!! Ranger found a little frog-friend in the picture above.

Rain means wet dog paws, so we're always drying Ranger off after he goes outside.

On Saturday morning we spent 3 hours at the BMW dealership... I had two tires that each had a nail in them. I have no idea how I pick up these nails!! But LUCKILY both tires could both be patched, instead of having to be replaced. So it was only $40 to get both tires patched instead of having to replace both tires! Luckily, the BMW waiting lounge is pretty swanky. We watched TV and got on the computers and drank coffee/tea/diet coke/root beer/lemonade/water and ate our fair share of muffins/candy/rice krispies/animal crackers. Can you tell we were trying to get our money's worth?? Haha! My purse may or may not have had a few extra diet cokes on the ride home. We joked about coming here every Saturday morning and getting some free food and drinks!
Then on Saturday night we attended a house party with some old college buddies. This is Bob, one of PK's former roommates and old baseball teammates. It was such a great night of having a good time and catching up with old friends!

Here we are at the party!
Sunday has been spent by recovering from Saturday, reading magazines, dishes, laundry and catching up on the TV recordings.
There are lots of things to look forward as the summer is coming to a close. Get to see our only nephew and my {pregnant with twins} sister-in-law soon!! Check out her blog here! Also, my brother-in-law gets home in just a week from his 6 month cruise job. Can't wait to spend time with him!

Our group is taking a trip to the lake and get to spend some quality time with our friends, and even ones who moved away! Miss them.

And finally I get to take an 8 hour road trip with my husband and my dog to Wagmore, my parent's house in NM. {"Wagmore" coined from our family motto = Wag More, Bark Less} Can't wait to spend time in the mountains with my family.

Lots of things and people to be thankful for! I <3 our life! Thanks for reading!

Huuuungry

Last night PK and I made homemade chicken and cheese quesadillas for dinner. We put chicken breasts with taco seasoning (and some water) in the slow cooker for a few hours and it makes the best shredded chicken for quesadillas or tacos or salads, etc. When I arrive home from work shortly after 5pm, I’m ready to eat immediately, I’m huuuungry. So we’re normally done eating and already putting dishes in the dishwasher by 6PM every night. This is usually followed by a Wal-Mart brand, 100 calorie ice cream sandwich from the freezer for dessert.

PK and I had some meetings to attend, so we left the house by 6:15pm and arrived back home around 10pm. After we threw the Frisbee like 100 times to get some of Ranger’s pent up energy out, we all went to bed. Note… I didn’t eat ANYTHING after 6PM yesterday. Which equals extremely hungry this morning. I woke up at 6AM with a big headache. Side note – my hunger tends to manifest itself in different physical symptoms. Today’s case - a headache.

7:50AM – toasted bagel with butter (while driving to work)

8:30AM – banana

9:45AM – applesauce

10:15AM – teddy grahams

And it’s only 10:30AM and my headache has returned and I’m dreaming about having a leftover chicken quesadilla for lunch. Turns out that going almost 14 hours without food the night before makes me pretty darn hungry.

Does anybody else’s hunger manifest itself in weird physical symptoms? My biggest ones are headaches, fuzzy eyes/blurred vision, nausea, light headedness and of course a mean attitude… PK will literally say, “What’s wrong?” And I’ll say, “Nothing!! I’m just hungry”… while I proceed to shove something into my mouth. Then he does that, “Ohhhh…..” like he just negated everything I just said in the past 10 minutes because he knows it wasn’t coming from my heart, it was coming from my hungry stomach. Hehe, so lucky to have someone who understands me!

I know what you’re thinking… low blood sugar, much?? Ya, I think so. I’ve never really been officially tested or anything, but symptoms seem pretty similar.

I know something else that you’re thinking… you’re not eating the right kinds of foods! Now, you’re probably right. I have noticed that my hunger symptoms are worse if I have been eating out a lot or eating a lot of junk food. In my defense… I haven’t eaten anything from a restaurant/fast food/convenience store/snack machine in NINE whole days. That’s pretty good for me. So every single meal from the last 9 days has been something made from food we bought at the grocery store and most of the dinners even included a vegetable! WHAT! So, although our meals are sometimes cereal or macaroni or quesadillas…. It’s still better than fast food.

Last week we got a mini-physical done for some life insurance policies that we’re getting. They come take your urine, blood, height, weight, history, etc. Well PK is always secretly hoping that they’ll test my blood and then have some miraculous discovery of why I feel this way when I’m hungry. Partly because he doesn’t understand why… he’s one of those guys that could not eat for 24 hours and not even notice. Grrr. Even though they took my blood like 9 days ago and I still have a deep bruise on my arm… you’ll be happy to know that I was approved for the “preferred” rate. So no issues here!

Sorry for the novel, congratulations if you made it all the way to the end. For the record, while I wrote this post, I ate 3 nutter butters. Hehe – adios!

Cubbies

Remember back in July when I showed you a “sneakpeak at awesome shoe cubby thing that my husband is building”? Well it's finally finished and installed into our master closet!

Check it out!
Too many extra hangers, ya think?

Place for boots at the top.

This is cubby #2!

Place on the sides for long necklaces...

And belts!!

How awesome?! My husband is available to make a specialized cubby for you and your closet for a very afordable price! Haha!

85

The AC went out at work over the weekend and still not fixed...thermostat says 85 degrees. Can I go home yet? I'd rather be home hanging with this guy...

Half on... Half off...

Adios-

Summer

I love watermelon. One of my favorite parts of summer.

We're trying to survive the heat with ceiling fans on high and ice cubes in the dog's water bowl. It's about that time that I start day dreaming about scarves and boots and the cold weather that comes with it.

This afternoon I took a nap. I had a dream, I don't have a clue what it was about now, but all I remember was that Ranger was in the dream. Of course Ranger was napping close by and when I woke up, I actually thought to myself, "I wonder if Ranger and I were just in the same dream? Do you think he remembers dreams?" I think I've been watching the movie, Inception, too much.

All is well with the new house. Resisting the urge to turn the AC down any further to avoid outrageous electric bills.

Cheers to summer!
