Since this is the first spring in our house, we're still trying to figure out the whole landscaping thing. From what we can tell, the previous owners totally redid the front yard and planted a bunch of stuff right before they put the house on the market. Throughout the summer, about half of what they just planted totally died. So our yard has been looking pretty wimpy for a little while.
But the two pictures below are some bushes that did survive! Our knock out rose bush has had dozens of beautiful pink blooms this March and April.
So today, we headed to Lowe's and stocked up on some more plants/bushes to help fill in some of the blank areas in the front.
See those two in their pots still are new ones that we added to this side of the yard.
These are our three newbies for the left side of the yard. We got another knock out rose to match the other side and then two other kinds of bushes.
Of course, Ranger was our watchdog. Since we're pretty close to a park, there are always people walking by. He's gotten pretty good about staying put when we tell him to. We also met more neighbors today, that's the benefit of being out in the yard!
Here's the view of these new three bushes in the ground. Can't wait til they start growing and getting bigger!
We finally decided to investigate the smaller tree in our front yard and discovered that one large branch didn't have any leaves on it. So after some further chopping, we saw that ants had totally taken over that entire branch, so it was totally dead. So now that the dead branch is gone, the tree looks much better.
It was actually pretty cloudy and windy today, so it was a good day to get some things done in the yard, instead of it being brutally hot. Right as we finished, it started sprinkling on us. I am so happy that we are finally taking interest in our yard and can't wait to see what it looks like after things start to grow bigger!
good job!
