Colton Lately: 19 Months!

Hello!! I want to remember things about these last few months, so I’m jotting them down here! Colton is already 19 months old. And we’ve hit a really good stride recently! More sleeping through the night and he’s transitioning to one nap during the day which is helping with that. He’s a little bit more predictable with his schedule and that’s made it easier on me on the days that I’m home with him, while trying to ‘work’ and attend therapies.

We’re excited to be implementing some more foods starting this month! His recent blood work showed only one positive result, which was an allergy to wheat. I never thought we’d be so excited about a wheat allergy, but that means that egg, oat, rice and peanuts all came back with a negative result! Wahoo! So we’ll slowly introduce those into his diet and see how he does, but becoming only gluten-free will add so many more options for his food!

Colton’s hit some big goals in the last few months. Namely, he started walking! At 17 months, he finally figured out how those legs and feet work together! So he’s been doing some serious learning in the gross motor area since then, a lot of practice and a lot of falls too!

He is moving to the first Toddler room at school next week and of course, I’m nervous about the transition. I think he’ll do fine with the schedule and being able to add different foods into his diet should help with the variety that we’re able to give him. Napping at school has been a struggle, so we’ll continue to work on sleeping on a nap mat on the floor. Mainly, the room seems to have these GIANT toddlers running and talking all over the place and all I can imagine is Colton getting run over and talked over. But, he shall learn! And he’ll start to run and talk one of these days! And he (and we) will get comfortable in this class, just like we all did with the two previous ones!
